Quiet Riot is an American heavy metal band. They are famous for their hit songs "Cum On Feel the Noize" and "Metal Health".
The band started in 1973. Guitar player Randy Rhoads and bass player Kelly Garni formed the group. They first called themselves Mach 1, then Little Women. In May 1975, they chose the name Quiet Riot. The first band members were singer Kevin DuBrow, Rhoads, Garni, and drummer Drew Forsythe.
Today, none of the original members are in the band. The current members are singer Scott Vokoun, drummer Frankie Banali, bass player Chuck Wright, and guitar player Alex Grossi. Both Banali and Wright played on the band's most successful album, Metal Health. Wright played bass on two songs, including "Metal Health."
The band's name came from a chat with Rick Parfitt of the British band Status Quo. Parfitt said he wanted to name a band "Quite Right." Because of his accent, it sounded like "Quiet Riot." The band is ranked number 100 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock."

Band History: Quiet Riot's Journey
Starting Out in the 1970s
The band began in the mid-1970s. Guitarist Randy Rhoads and bassist Kelly Garni started it. Singer Kevin DuBrow and drummer Drew Forsyth joined later.
They released two albums only in Japan: Quiet Riot and Quiet Riot II. Kelly Garni left after Quiet Riot II was recorded. His replacement, Rudy Sarzo, is on the album cover.
Randy Rhoads later left to play with Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy was starting a solo band after leaving Black Sabbath. Drew Forsyth also left the band later on.
Success and Changes in the 1980s
Kevin DuBrow formed a new band. It included drummer Frankie Banali, guitar player Carlos Cavazo, and bass player Chuck Wright. They decided to call themselves Quiet Riot.
Rudy Sarzo returned to the band to record the album Metal Health. This album became very successful. It featured popular songs like "Bang Your Head" and "Cum On Feel The Noize."
The next year, they released Condition Critical. This album did not do as well as Metal Health. Their next album, QR III, had Chuck Wright playing bass because Rudy Sarzo had left. QR III also did not sell well.
Kevin DuBrow was asked to leave the band because of his behavior. Paul Shortino became the new singer. They released an album called QR to try and become popular again. However, it failed and was even less successful than QR III. The band then broke up. DuBrow later won a court case to own the band's name.
Reunions and New Music in the 1990s
DuBrow started another new band. After a few name changes, it became Quiet Riot again. Old members Banali and Cavazo rejoined. The reformed band released Terrified and Down To The Bone.
Rudy Sarzo rejoined the band once more. This brought back the entire Metal Health lineup. In 1999, they released Alive And Well. This album included many new versions of their older hit songs.
The 2000s and Beyond
The Metal Health lineup released another album in 2001 called Guilty Pleasures. This was their first album without any cover songs from other bands. The band broke up in 2003.
DuBrow and Banali started the band again the next year. Chuck Wright and new guitar player Alex Grossi joined them. They began working on a new album. However, Wright and Grossi left. DuBrow and Banali had many different bass and guitar players join and leave quickly.
The band's new album, Rehab, came out in 2006. Wright and Grossi rejoined to play concerts for the album.
On November 19, 2007, Kevin DuBrow passed away. His body was found six days later. Frankie Banali later said the band would not continue because of this.
Quiet Riot in the 2010s
Even though Banali said the band would not return, they did in 2010. Mark Huff was the new singer. They toured for a year. Huff was fired in 2012 and found out online.
Banali hired a new singer named Scott Vokoun in March 2012. The band is now celebrating the 30th anniversary of their album Metal Health. They are playing concerts around the world.
