Quinzinho's Club Journey
Quinzinho was born in Luanda, which is in Portuguese Angola. He started his professional career there. In 1995, he joined one of Portugal's biggest clubs, FC Porto. At Porto, it was tough for him to get a regular spot on the team. This was because other famous strikers like Domingos Paciência and later Mário Jardel were also playing there.
Because of this, Porto often loaned Quinzinho to other teams in the Primeira Liga. He played for clubs like U.D. Leiria and Rio Ave FC. These loans helped him get more playing time and experience.
After playing a short time in Spain for Rayo Vallecano, Quinzinho came back to Portugal. He was still officially a Porto player, but he played for several other top-division teams very quickly. These included S.C. Farense, C.D. Aves, and F.C. Alverca.
In 2003, Quinzinho decided to move to China. He spent five years there, playing for different teams in both the top Chinese leagues: the Super League and the League One. This was a big change for him and showed his willingness to play in different parts of the world.
Quinzinho's International Career
Quinzinho was a very important player for the Angola national team. He played 40 matches for his country over seven years. He made his first appearance for Angola on September 4, 1994. This was in a game against Namibia, which Angola won 2–0. This match was part of the qualifiers for the 1996 African Cup of Nations.
Quinzinho was chosen to play for Angola in two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments: in 1996 and 1998. He scored a total of three goals in these tournaments. Even though Angola did not make it past the group stage in either tournament, Quinzinho's goals were important moments for his team.
Quinzinho's Achievements
Quinzinho won several important titles during his career:
Porto
- Primeira Liga: 1995–96, 1998–99
Xiamen Lanshi
- China League One: 2005
Quinzinho's Family and Passing
Quinzinho's son, Alexandre, also became a professional footballer. Alexandre was born in Portugal and played for the Portuguese youth national teams.
Sadly, Quinzinho passed away on April 15, 2019. He was 45 years old. At the time, he was working as a physiotherapist for a football club called U.D. Vilafranquense. He had a heart attack after jogging in Alverca do Ribatejo, Portugal. He was buried in Lisbon.
