Qunaba is a small area in the Bundaberg Region of Queensland, Australia. It is mostly a farming area. In 2021, about 836 people lived in Qunaba.

The Hummock: A Natural Viewpoint

The most interesting part of Qunaba is a hill called the Sloping Hummock. People often call it the Bundaberg Hummock or just The Hummock. It offers amazing views over the flat farmlands around it. Many homes have been built on the sides of The Hummock to enjoy these views.

Qunaba got its name from a sugar plantation and mill. It was first called Mon Repos plantation. In 1900, the Queensland National Bank took it over. They renamed it Qunaba, combining parts of their bank name: QUeensland NAtional BAnk.

The Hummock Lookout Park

In 1930, a group called the Bundaberg branch of the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) bought land at the top of The Hummock. They wanted to create a park for people travelling by car. This park would let visitors enjoy the beautiful views. The park officially opened on October 17, 1931.

Remembering Bert Hinkler

On August 14, 1937, a special memorial was put up on top of The Hummock. This memorial honors Bert Hinkler, a famous pilot who was born in Bundaberg.
