Río Ibáñez is a special type of area in Chile called a commune. It is located in the Aisén Region and is part of the General Carrera Province. The commune gets its name from the Ibáñez River, which flows into the large General Carrera Lake.

This commune is home to several towns and villages. These include Puerto Ingeniero Ibáñez, Villa Cerro Castillo, Bahía Murta, Puerto Eulogio Sánchez, and Puerto Río Tranquilo. The main town and administrative center is Puerto Ingeniero Ibáñez.
