Ragland is a small town in St. Clair County, Alabama, United States. It is located southeast of Ashville. The town officially became a town in 1899. In 2020, about 1,693 people lived there. This was a small increase from 1,639 people in 2010. Ragland is part of the larger Birmingham-Hoover-Cullman Combined Statistical Area.

The 1994 Tornado: A Powerful Storm
On Palm Sunday, March 27, 1994, a very strong tornado hit Ragland. This tornado was an F4 tornado. An F4 tornado is a very powerful type of tornado. It can cause extreme damage. The storm struck at 10:55 a.m.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a tornado warning. This warning was for nearby counties. Just minutes later, the tornado destroyed a church in Piedmont.
