Rainie Yang Cheng Lin (Chinese: 楊丞琳) was born on June 4, 1984. She is a famous singer, actress, and TV host from Taiwan. Rainie started her career in 2000 as part of a girl group called 4 in Love.
After the group broke up in 2002, she began a very successful solo singing career. Her first album, My Intuition, came out in 2005. Besides singing, she was also a host for the TV show Guess from 2002 to 2007. She is also well-known for her acting in TV dramas like Meteor Garden (2001), Devil Beside You (2005), and Hi My Sweetheart (2009). For her role in Hi My Sweetheart, she won a big award called the Golden Bell Award for Best Actress.

Early Life and Beginnings
Rainie Yang grew up in Taipei, Taiwan. Her family originally came from Guangdong, China, and she spoke Cantonese at home. When she was 13, her parents divorced because her father's business had problems. This meant Rainie had to start working to help her family. She went to Hwa Kang Arts School, which teaches different kinds of performing arts.
Rainie's Career Journey
Starting Out (2000–2005)
Rainie began her career in 2000 as a member of the Taiwanese girl group 4 in Love. In the group, she was given the stage name Rainie. The group had some success in music but later broke up in 2002.
After the group disbanded, Rainie continued working in entertainment. She became a TV host for shows like Guess. She also acted in many Taiwanese TV dramas. She had supporting roles in popular shows like Meteor Garden. In 2005, she got her first main role as Qi Yue in the drama Devil Beside You. That same year, she released her first album, My Intuition. It included popular songs like "Intuition" and "Ideal Lover."
Growing Success and Acting (2006–2008)
In 2006, Rainie released her second album, Meeting Love. On January 8, 2007, she stopped hosting Guess because she was very busy with her singing and acting.
She wanted to show she could be a "serious" actress. So, she acted in the movie Spider Lilies. After that, she returned to her sweet image by starring in the drama Why Why Love in 2007. She then released her third album, My Other Self, which included songs from Why Why Love.
In 2008, while filming the drama Miss No Good, Rainie had an accident and fell down some stairs. She was taken to the hospital and found to have a back injury. Luckily, she recovered. Miss No Good, starring Rainie and Will Pan, was very successful. During this time, she also released her fourth album, Not Yet a Woman.
Albums and Concerts (2009–2013)
In 2009, Rainie starred in the drama To Get Her. She also filmed a horror movie called The Child's Eye in Thailand. Later, she starred in the Taiwanese drama Hi My Sweetheart with Show Lo.
After promoting Hi My Sweetheart, Rainie released her fifth album, Rainie & Love...?, in 2010. Because her dramas were popular in other countries, she also started singing in Japanese. She released a Japanese version of her song "Intuition."
On April 23, 2010, Rainie released her first collection of songs, Whimsical World Collection. It had new songs, old favorites, and music videos. On October 22, 2010, she won the Best Actress award at the 45th Golden Bell Awards for her role in Hi My Sweetheart.
In 2011, Rainie released her sixth album, Longing for.... In 2012, she starred in a short romantic film called Heartbeat Love. She also released her seventh album, Wishing for Happiness. Her second concert tour, Love Voyage, started in December. In 2013, Rainie released her eighth album, Angel Wings.
New Music and Recognition (2014–2019)
In 2014, Rainie joined a new music company called EMI Taiwan. Her ninth album, A Tale of Two Rainie, came out in December 2014. That same year, she acted in the Chinese drama Love at Second Sight.
Her tenth album, Traces of Time in Love, was released in 2016. This album was nominated for three awards at the 28th Golden Melody Awards, which are very important music awards in Taiwan. This meant Rainie had been nominated for all three major entertainment awards in Taiwan: TV (Golden Bell), film (Golden Horse), and music (Golden Melody). In 2016, she also starred in the TV series Life Plan A and B.
Rainie has also spoken out to support the LGBTQIA+ community. She believes that love is for everyone, no matter their gender. In 2019, she released her eleventh album, Delete Reset Grow.
Recent Years (2020–Present)
On November 5, 2020, Rainie released her twelfth album, Like a Star. The next day, she started her Like a Star World Tour. In 2024, she took part in the Chinese reality show Singer.
Personal Life
In December 2014, Rainie Yang started dating Chinese singer-songwriter Li Ronghao. On July 11, 2019, Li Ronghao asked Rainie to marry him on his 34th birthday, and she said yes! They officially got married in China on September 17, 2019.
