He strongly supported the Urdu language and the people in Pakistan who spoke Urdu. His family was known for having many poets.
In 1972, a law was passed in Sindh about the Sindhi language. This law caused some disagreements and even violence over language. During this time, when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Rais Amrohvi wrote a very famous poem. Its title was Urdu ka janaza hai zara dhoom say niklay, which means "It is the funeral of Urdu, carry it out with fanfare." This poem showed his deep feelings about the Urdu language.
