A Look Back: Ramer's History
The community we know as Ramer today was first called Athens. However, when the people living there wanted to open a post office, they ran into a problem. There was already another city in Alabama named Athens.
To avoid confusion, the community decided to change its name. They chose "Ramer" after a nearby creek. The Ramer post office officially opened its doors in 1851.
