Ramesses X was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. He ruled Egypt from about 1111 BC to 1107 BC. He was the ninth pharaoh of the 20th Dynasty. His full name was Khepermaatre Setepenre Ramesses Amunherkhepeshef. This long name meant "The Justice of Ra Abides, Chosen of Ra, Ra fashioned him, strong arm of Amun."

Ramesses X's Time as Pharaoh
Ramesses X became pharaoh on the 27th day of the first month of the Winter season. We know he ruled for at least three years. The latest date found from his reign is from his third year. It was either the second or fourth month of the Inundation season.
How Long Did Ramesses X Rule?
Recently, a small piece of papyrus from Deir el-Medina was studied. It suggests Ramesses X might have ruled for almost four years. This papyrus mentions a date in "Year 4" and then a change to "Year 1." Experts believe this refers to Ramesses X and his successor, Ramesses XI. If this is true, Ramesses X ruled for about three years and ten months.
Ramesses X's Family
It is not fully clear how Ramesses X was related to the pharaohs before and after him, Ramesses IX and Ramesses XI. Some experts thought that Queen Tyti might have been his wife. She had titles like "King's Daughter," "King's Wife," and "King's Mother."
New Discoveries About Queen Tyti
However, new information from 2010 showed that Tyti was actually the wife of an earlier pharaoh, Ramesses III. This means she could not have been Ramesses X's wife. So, the exact family connections of Ramesses X are still a bit of a mystery.
Records from Ramesses X's Reign
Ramesses X is not a pharaoh we know a lot about. There are only a few documents from his time. One papyrus, called Papyrus Turin 1932+1939, confirms his second year as pharaoh. His third year is mentioned in a special diary. This diary was kept by the workers who built tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
Challenges During His Rule
The diary shows that the tomb workers often did not work. This was partly because of danger from groups of people called Libyans. These "desert-dwellers" were moving into Egypt and causing trouble. They were seen roaming around Upper Egypt and Thebes. This shows that Egypt was facing some challenges during Ramesses X's rule. Ramesses X is also the last pharaoh from the New Kingdom whose rule over Nubia is recorded. We know this from an inscription found in Aniba.
Ramesses X's Tomb
Ramesses X's tomb is known as KV18. It is located in the famous Valley of the Kings, where many pharaohs were buried. However, his tomb was never finished.
Was He Buried There?
It is not certain if Ramesses X was ever buried in KV18. No remains or pieces of burial items have been found inside the tomb. This means we don't have clear proof that he was laid to rest there.
