Rari facts for kids
Rari is a small village in Chile, a country in South America. Its name, "Rari," comes from the Mapudungun language, which is spoken by the Mapuche people. In their language, "Rari" means a type of bush or shrub. This village is located in the beautiful foothills of the Andes Mountains, in a part of Chile called the Maule Region.
Where is Rari?
Rari is found in the Colbún area, which is like a local district. It's about 20 kilometers (about 12 miles) northeast of Linares, a bigger city and the capital of the province. The village is also close to famous hot springs called Panimávida and Quinamávida, where people can relax in warm, natural water.
Together with nearby small villages like Paso Rari and San Francisco de Rari, about 1,300 people live in this area. Rari is located at an altitude of 246 meters (about 807 feet) above sea level.
Amazing Horse Hair Crafts
One of the most special things about Rari is its unique art and crafts. These crafts are made from "crin," which is the hair from a horse's mane or tail. A group of very skilled artisans, mostly women, create these beautiful items by hand.
Some of these artisans have been working with horse hair for more than seventy years! They are experts in this special trade, making Rari famous for its delicate and detailed horse hair creations.
