Rashod D. Kent (born June 7, 1980) is a former American football player. He played as a tight end for the Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL). Before playing professional football, Rashod was a talented college basketball player at Rutgers University. He also played football in NFL Europe for the Scottish Claymores.

Early Life and High School Sports
Rashod D. Kent was born on June 7, 1980, in Fairmont, West Virginia. Growing up, he was very active in sports. He played high school basketball at Fairmont Senior High School in his hometown. He also played football during his freshman year of high school.
College Basketball Star
Rashod Kent played college basketball for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Rutgers University. He was a forward from 1998 to 2002.
During his freshman year (1998–99), he played in 28 games and started 22 of them. He scored about 8.8 points and grabbed 4.9 rebounds per game. He was very good at shooting close to the basket, making 66.7% of his two-point shots. This was the best percentage in the Big East that season.
In his second year (1999–00), Rashod started all 31 games. He continued to play well, averaging 8.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
His junior year (2000–01) saw him average 9.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He started all 26 games he played in.
As a senior in 2001–02, Rashod had an amazing season. He started all 31 games and averaged a double-double. This means he averaged over 10 points and 10 rebounds per game. Specifically, he averaged 10.5 points and 10.2 rebounds. He also added 1.9 steals and 1.8 blocks per game. Because of his excellent performance, he was named to the second-team All-Big East.
Professional Football Journey
Even though Rashod was a great college basketball player, he decided to try playing professional football. He was not chosen in the 2002 NFL draft, but the Houston Texans signed him on April 28, 2002.
Playing in NFL Europe
In 2003, Rashod was sent to play for the Scottish Claymores in NFL Europe. This league helped players gain experience. He played in all ten games for the Claymores, starting one. He caught nine passes for 92 yards and scored one touchdown.
Time with the Houston Texans
After playing in NFL Europe, Rashod returned to the Houston Texans. He played in seven games for the Texans during the 2003 NFL season, starting four of them. He was a tight end, a position that blocks and catches passes.
Joining the Oakland Raiders
In 2004, Rashod signed with the Oakland Raiders. However, he was released shortly after due to an injury. This marked the end of his professional football career.
Life After Football
After his football career, Rashod Kent focused on helping others. He started a nonprofit organization. This organization works to deliver warm coats to people who need them. It also provides Thanksgiving turkeys to families.
