Ravenna Township is a community located in Portage County, Ohio, in the United States. It is one of eighteen civil townships in Portage County. In 2020, about 8,980 people lived here.

Where is Ravenna Township?
Ravenna Township is right in the middle of Portage County. It shares its borders with several other townships and one city:
- Shalersville Township to the north
- Freedom Township at the northeast corner
- Charlestown Township to the east
- Edinburg Township at the southeast corner
- Rootstown Township to the south
- Brimfield Township at the southwest corner
- Franklin Township to the west
- Streetsboro city at the northwest corner
The city of Ravenna, which is the main city and county seat (the place where the county government is) of Portage County, is completely surrounded by Ravenna Township. The city became separate from the township in 1993.
Ravenna Township covers an area of about 20 square miles (52 square kilometers).
Name and History of Ravenna Township
Ravenna Township is the only township with this name in the entire state of Ohio.
In the western part of the township, along Ohio State Route 59, you'll find a small, unincorporated town called Black Horse. It got its name from a tavern (a type of inn or pub) called the Blackhorse Tavern, which was located there in the 1800s.
