Ravindra Jain (born 28 February 1944 – died 9 October 2015) was a very talented Indian music composer, lyricist, and playback singer. He started his career in the early 1970s, creating music for many popular movies. He was known for his amazing ability to compose music even though he was born blind.
His famous works include films like Chor Machaye Shor (1974), Geet Gaata Chal (1975), Chitchor (1976), and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985). He also composed the iconic music for Ramanand Sagar's epic TV series Ramayan (1987). In 2015, he received the Padma Shri, one of India's highest awards, for his contributions to art.

His Early Life
Ravindra Jain was born on 28 February 1944. He was born blind. His parents were Pandit Indramani Jain and Kiran Jain. He was the third of eight children, with seven brothers and one sister. His family belonged to the Jain community. His father was a Sanskrit scholar, and his mother managed their home.
His father quickly noticed Ravindra's musical talent. He sent him to learn music from famous teachers like G.L. Jain, Janardhan Sharma, and Nathu Ram. From a young age, Ravindra started singing devotional songs, called bhajans, in temples.
His Amazing Career
Ravindra Jain began his career in the early 1970s. He composed music for many successful films. Some of his well-known movies include Saudagar, Chor Machaye Shor, Chitchor, Geet Gaata Chal, Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se, Nadiya Ke Paar, and Vivah.
He often worked with singers like Yesudas and Hemlata. They sang many of his beautiful songs. Besides films, he also created many religious music albums in different Indian languages, including Bengali and Malayalam.
Ravindra Jain's music became very famous through television. He composed the music for several popular TV series. His most iconic work was for Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, which aired in 1987. This show's music became a huge hit and is still loved today. Other popular TV shows he worked on include Shri Krishna, Alif Laila, Jai Ganga Maiya, and Jai Hanuman.
His Personal Life
Ravindra Jain was married to Divya Jain. They had one son named Aayushmaan. He passed away in Mumbai on 9 October 2015. He died due to multiple organ failure.
Awards and Recognition
Ravindra Jain received many awards for his incredible work in music. In 2015, he was honored with the Padma Shri. This is the fourth-highest civilian award in the Republic of India. It recognized his significant contributions to the arts.
He also won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director in 1985. This award was for his music in the film Ram Teri Ganga Maili. These awards show how much his talent was appreciated in India.
