Reading Blaster 2000 is an exciting educational game designed to help kids aged 6-9 improve their reading skills. It was first made by Davidson & Associates in 1996. This game is a new version of an earlier game called Reading Blaster: Invasion of the Word Snatchers. Later, the game was sold under different names. In 1998, it became Reading Blaster: Ages 6–9. Then, in 2000, Knowledge Adventure sold it as Reading Blaster for 3rd Grade. It is part of the popular Blaster Learning System series of games.

What is Reading Blaster 2000?

Reading Blaster 2000 takes you into a fun game show set in outer space. Instead of a typical adventure, you get to compete in a friendly challenge. The game helps you practice reading in an engaging way. It was first released in 1996 for both Windows and Macintosh computers.

How the Game Show Works

In the game, you choose one of the famous Blaster characters to play as. These characters include Blasternaut, Galactic Commander, and Spot. Once you pick your character, you can decide who to play against.

  • You can play against a friend. If you do, your friend will choose another Blaster character.
  • You can play against the computer. When you play against the computer, your opponent is a character named Illitera.

Meet the Characters

The game features characters that fans of the Blaster series will recognize.

  • Blasternaut: The main hero of the Blaster series.
  • Galactic Commander: Another brave character who helps out.
  • Spot: A friendly sidekick.
  • Illitera: In the original Reading Blaster game, Illitera was the main villain. However, in Reading Blaster 2000, her role is different. She is just your computer opponent in the game show. She might make some grumpy comments, but she doesn't have an evil plan.

Unique Game Features

Reading Blaster 2000 stands out from other games in the Blaster series for a few reasons.

  • Multiplayer Fun: This is one of the few multiplayer video games in the Blaster series. This means you can play with a friend at the same time, which makes the game show competition even more exciting.
  • No Evil Plot: Most Blaster games involve stopping a villain's evil plan. But in Reading Blaster 2000, there isn't a big bad plot to foil. It's all about friendly competition and learning. Illitera, who was once a villain, is now just a rival contestant.
