It's known as a "census-designated place" (CDP), which means it's a special area defined for counting people. In 2020, about 3,367 people lived there. Exploring Reamstown's Location
Reamstown is found in the northeastern part of Lancaster County. It sits in the southern area of East Cocalico Township. To its northwest, you'll find the town of Denver.
How to Get Around Reamstown
Pennsylvania Route 272 runs through Reamstown, just north of the main downtown area. This road can take you about 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast to Adamstown. It also goes southwest the same distance to Ephrata.
A bigger, four-lane highway, U.S. Route 222, passes by the south side of Reamstown. The closest way to get onto this highway is about 2 miles (3.2 km) northeast. This road also connects to the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The area of Reamstown is about 2.27 square miles (5.9 square kilometers). A small part of this, about 0.01 square miles (0.04 square kilometers), is water. The Cocalico Creek flows along the northwestern edge of Reamstown. This creek then flows southwest into the Conestoga River, which eventually joins the mighty Susquehanna River.
Reamstown's Past: A Look at History
Reamstown was named after Eberhard Ream, whose son, Tobias Ream, started the town in the 1740s. Before it was called Reamstown, it had another name: "Zohar."
Reamstown During the American Revolution
During the American Revolution, Reamstown played an important role. It became one of the places where soldiers wounded in the Battle of Brandywine were taken for care. This battle happened on September 11, 1777. Sadly, some of these soldiers died in Reamstown. They are buried in unmarked graves at the Salem Evangelical Cemetery.
A Special Stone in the Cemetery
At the Salem Evangelical Cemetery, you can also find a large boulder. This stone was once used by Native American people as a tool to grind things, like a mortar and pestle. They used it on nearby Ephrata Mountain. Later, a person named Pierce Lesher moved the boulder to Reamstown. Today, there's a plaque on the stone. It tells the story of both the Native American history and the military history of the area.
