Reche Canyon is a cool natural passage, or canyon, located in the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains in Southern California. It's part of a bigger area called the Inland Empire. This canyon has been known by a few different names over time, like Homhoa Canyon, Homoa Canyon, and Homuba Canyon.

The middle of Reche Canyon is where the border between two counties lies: San Bernardino County and Riverside County. The northern part of the canyon, in San Bernardino County, is mostly within the city of Colton, with a small piece in Loma Linda. The southern part, in Riverside County, is not part of any city but is an unincorporated area. You can even find Reche Canyon Elementary School in the northern part of the canyon!

Why Reche Canyon is Important

Reche Canyon is more than just a pretty natural spot; it's a really useful pathway!

Connecting Cities

Along with other canyons like San Timoteo Canyon and Pigeon Pass, Reche Canyon helps connect different cities. It links San Bernardino and its nearby towns to the city of Moreno Valley.

A Handy Shortcut

The road that goes through Reche Canyon is often used by people driving to work or school. It's a popular shortcut! Drivers use it to get around traffic jams on bigger roads like Interstate 215 and California State Route 60. This makes it a helpful alternative for commuters looking to save time.
