Red Rock Mountain is a cool mountain found in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It stands tall as part of a big, steep slope called an escarpment. This special slope is known as the North Mountain escarpment.

This escarpment is also a piece of the much larger Allegheny Plateau. At the very top of Red Rock Mountain, you'll find a firetower. This tower is famously known as "Grandview" because of its amazing views! The mountain and its firetower are both located inside Ricketts Glen State Park.

  • Looking Other Directions: When you look north, east, or west, you will see the Allegheny Plateau. This plateau has been deeply cut by rivers and streams over time, creating many hills and valleys.

To the west of Red Rock Mountain, you can spot other mountain tops. These include Huckleberry and North Mountain summits. These mountains are some of the highest peaks in this part of Pennsylvania. They add to the beautiful scenery you can enjoy from Red Rock Mountain.
