Reginald Jacob Cannon (born June 11, 1998) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a right-back for the Major League Soccer team Colorado Rapids. Reggie started his college soccer journey with the UCLA Bruins in 2016. The next year, he made his professional debut for FC Dallas. He later played for clubs in Portugal and England before returning to the USA. Reggie has also proudly represented the United States national team. He helped them win the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2021 and the CONCACAF Nations League in 2021.

Early Life and Soccer Journey
Reggie Cannon grew up loving soccer. He played high school soccer at Grapevine Faith Christian School in Grapevine, Texas. His team even won a state championship during his freshman year!
Playing for FC Dallas Academy
While in high school, Reggie also played for the FC Dallas academy team. He helped the FC Dallas academy win two national championships in a row. This experience prepared him for college soccer.
College Soccer at UCLA
In 2016, Reggie played college soccer for the UCLA Bruins. He was a key player, starting in all 20 matches for the team. He played the third-most minutes on the team that year.
Professional Club Career
After one year of college, Reggie decided to become a professional soccer player.
Starting with FC Dallas
Reggie signed a special "homegrown" player contract with FC Dallas in December 2016. This meant he had come up through their youth system. He was the 18th player to do so for Dallas.
His first professional game was in June 2017 in a cup match. A few months later, in September, he made his first appearance in a MLS game. By 2018, Reggie became a regular starter for FC Dallas. He played 34 games and scored his first goal for the team. In 2019, he scored two goals, which was his best scoring year with the club.
Moving to Europe: Boavista
In September 2020, Reggie moved to Portugal to play for Boavista. This was a big step, as he joined a team in Europe's top league. He played his first game for Boavista in a 3-3 draw.
During his time at Boavista, Reggie played 82 games. He sometimes faced tough challenges, including being sent off the field in a few matches. In June 2023, he left the club after a disagreement about his pay.
Short Time with Queens Park Rangers
In September 2023, Reggie joined Queens Park Rangers, an English club. He signed a four-year deal with them. He played 21 games for the team before leaving in August 2024.
Back to the MLS: Colorado Rapids
On September 11, 2024, Reggie Cannon returned to the MLS. He signed a contract with the Colorado Rapids. He has played 6 games for them so far and scored 1 goal.
Playing for the United States
Reggie has also had an exciting career playing for his country.
First Appearances and Gold Cup
He made his first appearance for the United States men's national soccer team in October 2018. In 2019, he was chosen to play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He played four matches, including the final game against Mexico.
Winning Trophies
Reggie helped the United States win the CONCACAF Nations League in June 2021. Just a few days later, he scored his first goal for the national team in a friendly match against Costa Rica. He also played a big part in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup, which the United States won by beating Mexico in the final.

Reggie Cannon is married to his wife, Kendall. They got married in April 2020.
Reggie comes from a family of accomplished people. His grandfather, Dr. Warren M. Washington, is a famous scientist who studies the atmosphere. His step-sister, Bianca Smith, is a professional baseball coach.
In 2020, Reggie spoke out about unfair treatment he and his teammates faced from some fans. He stood up for what he believed was right, even when it was difficult. He later shared that he felt his safety was at risk in the United States because of his stance.
