Reginald Jacob Cannon (born June 11, 1998) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a right-back for the Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids.
Reggie played one year of college soccer for the UCLA Bruins in 2016. He then made his Major League Soccer debut for FC Dallas the next year. He played 75 games for FC Dallas. In 2020, he moved to the Portuguese team Boavista.
Cannon first played for the United States national team in 2018. He played in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2019 and 2021. He helped the team win the Gold Cup in 2021. He also helped them win the 2021 CONCACAF Nations League Finals.

Early Life and Youth Soccer
Reggie Cannon grew up playing soccer in Texas. He went to Grapevine Faith Christian School. His high school team, Grapevine Faith, won a state championship in soccer during his first year.
While in high school, Reggie also played for the FC Dallas academy team. He helped the FC Dallas academy win two national championships in a row. After this, he went to the University of California, Los Angeles.
College Soccer at UCLA
In 2016, Cannon played college soccer for the University of California, Los Angeles. He played in 20 games for the Bruins. He was one of only three players, and the only freshman, to start every game for the Bruins. Reggie played the third most minutes on the team that year.
Professional Soccer Career
Reggie Cannon started his professional career with FC Dallas. He then moved to play in Europe before returning to the MLS.
Playing for FC Dallas
Cannon signed a special contract with FC Dallas on December 22, 2016. This type of contract is called a "homegrown player" deal. He was the 18th homegrown player in the history of FC Dallas.
He played his first professional game on June 14, 2017. This was in a cup game against Tulsa Roughnecks. On September 2, he made his first Major League Soccer appearance. He came into the game as a substitute against the New York Red Bulls.
In 2018, Reggie became a regular starter for FC Dallas. He played in 34 games and scored one goal. This goal helped his team get a 2–2 tie against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Cannon played 29 games for Dallas in the 2019 season. He scored two goals, which was his best scoring year as a defender. In March 2020, he signed a new four-year contract with the team.
Time in Portugal with Boavista
On September 9, 2020, Reggie moved to Boavista F.C., a team in Portugal. He made his first appearance for Boavista in their first game of the 2020–21 season. The game ended in a 3–3 tie.
Reggie played 82 games for Boavista. He left the club in June 2023.
Playing for Queens Park Rangers
On September 26, 2023, Cannon joined the English club Queens Park Rangers. He signed a four-year deal with them. He played 21 games for the team. He left the club in August 2024.
Joining Colorado Rapids
In 2024, Reggie Cannon joined the Colorado Rapids back in Major League Soccer.
Playing for the United States National Team
Reggie Cannon has played many times for the United States men's national soccer team.
On October 16, 2018, he played his first game for the senior national team. It was a friendly game against Peru, which ended in a 1–1 tie. He was chosen for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup team. He played four games in that tournament, including the final match against Mexico.
Reggie faced strong competition for his position from other talented players. On June 6, 2021, he helped the United States win the CONCACAF Nations League final against Mexico. Three days later, he scored his first goal for the national team. This was in a 4–0 friendly win against Costa Rica.
He also played in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He played four games and started in the final match, which the U.S. won 1–0 against Mexico.
Personal Life
Reggie Cannon has an interesting family background. His grandfather, Dr. Warren M. Washington, is a famous scientist who studies the atmosphere. His step-sister, Bianca Smith, is a professional baseball coach.
Reggie married his wife, Kendall, in April 2020.
In August 2020, Reggie spoke out about social justice. He supported the Black Lives Matter movement.
