Renata Chlumska (born 9 December 1973) is a brave adventurer and mountain climber. She was born in Malmö, Sweden. Renata has both Swedish and Czech citizenship because her parents were from the Czech Republic.
Renata made history on 5 May 1999. On this day, she became the first woman from Sweden and the Czech Republic to climb Mount Everest. This is the world's highest mountain!

What is the "Around America Adventure?"
From 2005 to 2006, Renata took on a huge challenge. She called it the "Around America Adventure." Her goal was to travel around the lower 48 states of the United States. She used a kayak and a bicycle for this journey.
How did Renata travel around America?
Renata started her trip by paddling a kayak. She went from Seattle to San Diego. After that, she put her kayak on a special carriage. She then bicycled with it from San Diego to Brownsville, Texas.
Next, she got back into her kayak. She paddled all the way around Florida to Eastport, Maine. To finish her journey, she bicycled back to Seattle. Renata was the first person to travel around 32 states using only a bicycle and a kayak.
Personal Life
Renata was engaged to another famous climber, Göran Kropp. Sadly, he passed away in a climbing accident.
