Rendville is a small village located in Perry County, Ohio, United States. It used to be a busy mining town in the southeastern part of Appalachian Ohio. In 2020, only 28 people lived there, making it the smallest official community in Ohio.
Rendville's Story
Rendville was started in 1879 by a person named William P. Rend. The village was named after him. A post office, which helps send mail, opened in Rendville in 1879. It stayed open for a long time, until 1982. A very important event happened in 1888: Isiah Tuppins was chosen as the mayor. He was the first African-American mayor in the entire state of Ohio.

What the 2010 Census Showed
In 2010, a count of the population, called a census, showed that 36 people lived in Rendville. These people lived in 18 different homes, and 11 of these were families.
The population density was about 116 people for every square mile. This means there were not many people living close together. There were also 28 places to live, like houses, in the village.
Most of the people in the village (80.6%) were White. About 8.3% were African American. The remaining 11.1% were from two or more different racial backgrounds.
Out of the 18 homes, some had children under 18 living there (16.7%). About 38.9% of the homes had married couples living together. Some homes (16.7%) had a female head of the house without a husband. A small number (5.6%) had a male head of the house without a wife. About 38.9% of the homes were not families.
About 22.2% of all homes had only one person living there. A small number (5.6%) had someone living alone who was 65 years old or older. On average, each home had 2 people, and each family had about 2.27 people.
The average age of people in the village was 54.5 years old. Only 11.1% of residents were under 18 years old. Most people were between 45 and 64 years old (44.5%). About 27.8% of the people were 65 years old or older. The village had slightly more females (55.6%) than males (44.4%).
