Renee O'Connor's Early Life
Renee O'Connor was born in Houston, Texas, and grew up in a town called Katy, Texas. Her mother, Sandra, raised her. When Renee was 12, she started studying acting at the Alley Theatre in Houston.
She went to Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston. Her first professional acting job was playing a dancing Porky Pig at Six Flags AstroWorld in Houston. After that, she moved to Los Angeles, California, to start her acting career.
Renee O'Connor's Acting Career
Renee O'Connor began her screen career at age 17. She appeared in a segment called "Teen Angel" on the Disney Channel's The Mickey Mouse Club. This led to a TV series called Teen Angel.
She also acted in the Disney movie The Adventures of Huck Finn. Renee appeared in several TV movies, including Follow the River and Danielle Steele's Changes. A big role for her was playing Deianeira in Hercules and the Lost Kingdom, alongside Kevin Sorbo.
Becoming Gabrielle in Xena: Warrior Princess
Her role in Hercules caught the attention of the show's producers, Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi. They chose her to play Gabrielle in the spin-off TV series, Xena: Warrior Princess. This role made her very famous.
Renee O'Connor's Work Behind the Scenes
In 2001, Renee O'Connor started her own film production company called Roc Productions. She has also directed and produced some films.
