History of Rexford
Rexford was founded around 1887. It was named after the Rexford family, who were early settlers in the area. The first post office in Rexford opened in August 1888. This helped the community grow and connect with other places.

Golden Plains High School is located right in Rexford. The school's mascot is the Bulldog. Rexford High School used to exist before the schools combined. Its mascot was also the Bulldog. The Golden Plains High School boys' basketball team won the state championship in 1985. This team is now in the KSHSAA Hall of Fame.
