Earning the Medal of Honor

Sergeant Boury showed incredible bravery during the war. His most notable act of courage happened on March 5, 1865. This was during a battle near Charlottesville, Virginia. For his actions that day, he was recognized with the Medal of Honor. This important award was given to him just a few weeks later, on March 26, 1865.

Later Years and Legacy

After the war, Richard Boury lived a long life. He passed away on July 5, 1914, in West Virginia. He was buried at the Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Sergeant Boury is remembered as a hero who served his country with great courage.
