Rickey Lee Lawson (born March 7, 1947), known as Richard Lawson, is an American actor who has appeared in many movies and television shows. He is well-known for his role as Ryan in the classic 1982 horror movie Poltergeist. He also played Dr. Ben Taylor in the popular 1983 science fiction miniseries V.

Early Life and Acting Career
Richard Lawson was born in Loma Linda, California. Before he became an actor, he served in the United States Army as a medic during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he decided to start an acting career.
His first movie role was in the 1971 film Dirty Harry. He later appeared in the horror movie Scream Blacula Scream in 1973. Throughout his career, Lawson has played many different characters. He was in the 1979 movie The Main Event and the 1984 film Streets of Fire.
Lawson has also been a star on television. He was in the drama series Chicago Story in the early 1980s. From 1986 to 1987, he played Nick Kimball in the famous TV show Dynasty. He also had a main role in the soap opera All My Children from 1992 to 1994.
Over the years, Lawson has made guest appearances on many popular shows, including Kojak, Sister, Sister, The Bernie Mac Show, and Grey's Anatomy.
Personal Life
From 1978 to 1989, Lawson was married to actress Denise Gordy. Together, they have a daughter, Bianca Lawson, who is also an actress. Richard Lawson also has a son named Ricky, who was born in 1992.
On March 22, 1992, Lawson was a passenger on USAir Flight 405. The plane crashed shortly after taking off from LaGuardia Airport in New York City. Lawson was one of the survivors of the crash.
In 2013, he began dating fashion designer Tina Knowles, who is the mother of singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles. Lawson and Knowles had been friends for many years. They got married on April 12, 2015. The couple divorced in 2024.
