Richard Lawson (born March 7, 1947) is an American actor. He has starred in many movies and television shows. He is well-known for his roles in films like Poltergeist (where he played Ryan) and the TV miniseries V (where he was Dr. Ben Taylor).
About Richard Lawson's Life
Richard Lawson was born Rickey Lee Lawson in Loma Linda, California. Before becoming an actor, he joined the United States Army. He worked as a medic and served for 21 months in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He was injured while serving his country.
After his time in the military, Richard decided to become an actor. His first movie role was in the 1971 film Dirty Harry. In 1973, he played Willis in Scream Blacula Scream. He also appeared in The Main Event in 1979 and played Officer Ed Price in the 1984 movie Streets of Fire.
Richard Lawson has had many roles on television too. In 1977, he was part of an Australian show called Hotel Story. He also starred in the 1980s series Chicago Story. From 1986 to 1987, he played Nick Kimball on the popular show Dynasty. Later, he was Detective Nathaniel Hawthorne in The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd from 1989 to 1991. He also appeared in the daytime soap opera All My Children as Lucas Barnes from 1992 to 1994.
He has made guest appearances on many other TV shows. These include Kojak, Get Christie Love!, Sister, Sister, Soul Food, The Bernie Mac Show, The Division, All in the Family, and Strong Medicine.

Richard Lawson was married to actress Denise Gordy from 1978 to 1989. They have a daughter named Bianca Lawson, who was born in 1979 and is also an actress. Richard also has a son named Ricky, born in 1992.
In 1992, Richard Lawson survived a plane crash. This happened on March 22, 1992, when USAir Flight 405 crashed after taking off from LaGuardia Airport in New York City.
In 2013, he started dating Tina Knowles. Tina is a fashion designer and the mother of famous singers Beyoncé and Solange Knowles. Richard and Tina had known each other for over 30 years because she was a close friend of his late sister. Richard said he had "always admired her." They got married on April 12, 2015, but later separated in 2023.
