Rick Walters, born on July 19, 1971, is a Canadian who used to play professional football. He was a slotback in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Today, he is the offensive coordinator for the York Lions university football team. Rick is also a Grey Cup champion, having won the big championship game in 2003 with the Edmonton Eskimos.

Rick Walters' Early Life

Rick Walters was born in Mandeville, Jamaica. When he was seven years old, his family moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Later, they moved again to Edmonton, Alberta.

Rick played college football for the Simon Fraser Clan. He studied and graduated from Simon Fraser University.

Rick Walters' Pro Football Career

Rick Walters started his professional football journey in 1994. He joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders team.

In 1999, Rick moved to play for his hometown team, the Edmonton Eskimos. He played with them for five years. During this time, in 2003, he became a Grey Cup champion. This is a huge achievement in Canadian football!

In 2001, Rick won a special award called the Tom Pate Memorial Award. This award is given to a CFL player who shows great sportsmanship and helps their community.

Rick finished his playing career with a short time playing for the Calgary Stampeders. Throughout his career, he caught 221 passes for a total of 2,629 yards. He also scored 12 touchdowns and ran for another 187 yards.

After his playing days, Rick Walters became a coach. From 2010 to 2012, he was the head coach for the Edmonton Huskies junior football team.

More recently, on June 11, 2024, Rick Walters was named the offensive coordinator for the York Lions. As an offensive coordinator, he helps plan how the team will score points.

Rick Walters is a very active person in his community. He volunteers his time with organizations like Kids Kottage and the Kids with Cancer Society. These groups help children and families in need.

Rick also works with the Government of Alberta. He helps with special projects, including big events like the Grey Cup football games. He also helped with the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
