Ridge is a small place in St. Mary's County, Maryland, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Ridge is located very close to the southern tip of western Maryland, near a place called Point Lookout. Water surrounds Ridge on two sides, making it a great spot for seafood restaurants. A historic Roman Catholic church, which once had a school, is also found here. A historic site called Bard's Field was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Oblate Sisters of Providence: Helping the Community

This convent was connected to St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. The Sisters worked closely with the local African American Catholic community. They also helped to run a Catholic high school in the area. Their work was very important for education and support in Ridge.
