About the River Rat
The River Rat is a key part of the local water system. It is the main river that feeds into the River Gipping. This means it's a "tributary" of the Gipping.
Where the River Rat Begins
The River Rat starts in a place called its "source." For the River Rat, this source is located just south of the village of Felsham. At this point, the river is about 80 meters (262 feet) above sea level.
Where the River Rat Ends
The River Rat doesn't flow into the sea directly. Instead, it joins another river. It meets the River Gipping in a town called Stowmarket. This meeting point is at a place known as Pikes Meadow. When it joins the Gipping, the river is about 26 meters (85 feet) above sea level.
Its Other Name
Sometimes, the River Rat is known by another name: the Rattlesden River. This is because the river flows right through the village of Rattlesden.
