Riverside is a small, unincorporated community located in the northeastern part of Clark County, Nevada, in the United States. It sits right by the Virgin River, close to the towns of Bunkerville and Mesquite. You can reach Riverside by taking Nevada State Route 170, which connects these three places. A cool fact about Riverside is that it's where the highway bridge crosses the Virgin River.

History of Riverside

Riverside is located along a very old path called the Old Spanish Trail. This trail was used a long time ago for trading. It entered the Virgin River Valley after crossing the Beaver Dam Mountains.

The trail reached the river near what is now Littlefield. From there, it followed the river past the area where Riverside is now, all the way to the Colorado River. At the Colorado River, the trail turned west.

After 1847, a new wagon road was created. It was called the Mormon Road. This road followed parts of the Old Spanish Trail. However, it changed its path in some places to avoid tricky quicksands and muddy areas along the Virgin River that could trap wagons.

The Mormon Road passed through the site of Riverside. Here, it turned north, moving away from the older trail. It then climbed towards Virgin Hill and turned west. From there, it went up a steep, narrow ridge to the top of Mormon Mesa.

After crossing Mormon Mesa, the road reached the Muddy River. It crossed the river opposite the mouth of California Wash, which is west of modern Glendale, Nevada. The road then continued up that wash to Las Vegas Springs.
