Communities in Riverside Township
Riverside Township has been home to a few small communities over the years. These places often had their own post offices, which were important for sending and receiving mail.
Forward Post Office
- Forward was the name of a rural post office. It was located in the eastern part of Riverside Township. This post office was open from October 10, 1903, to January 15, 1908. Joseph Nederhoed was the very first postmaster, which is the person in charge of a post office.
Galt Settlement
- Galt was another post office and a small settlement in the township. William McBain was the first postmaster here. The Galt post office opened on June 23, 1874. It closed for a short time in 1879 but then reopened. It finally closed for good on September 15, 1908. People in the area often called it "Galt Farms."

Riverside Township is found in the southern part of Missaukee County. Its southern border touches Osceola County.

The township covers a total area of about 35.55 square miles. Most of this area, about 35.35 square miles, is land. The remaining small part, about 0.20 square miles, is water. This means water makes up less than 1% of the township's total area.

The Clam River flows through the northern part of Riverside Township. It moves from west to east across the land.
