Riza Durmisi (born on January 8, 1994) is a professional footballer from Denmark. He plays as a left-back for the club Nea Salamina in Cyprus. Riza has played for Denmark's national teams at different youth levels. He first played for the senior national team in 2015.

Early Life and Youth Football
Riza Durmisi was born in Ishøj, a town near Copenhagen, Denmark. He started playing football at a local club called SB 50 Ishøj. Later, he joined the youth academy of Brøndby IF, a well-known Danish club. Riza's family comes from Tetovo, a city in what used to be Yugoslavia, and he has Albanian heritage.
Club Career Highlights
Riza Durmisi has played for several football clubs throughout his career. He started his professional journey in Denmark before moving to play in Spain, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Poland, and Cyprus.
Playing for Brøndby
Riza made his first team debut for Brøndby in August 2012. He was only a substitute in four games that season.
Becoming a Regular Player
In June 2013, Riza signed a three-year contract with Brøndby. He became a regular player, first as a left winger and then as a left wing-back. On November 10, he scored his first goal for the club. This was in a 3–0 home win against AGF. His good performances caught the eye of scouts from other countries.
European Debut and National Team Choices
In July 2014, Riza played his first UEFA Europa League match. This was an away game against the Belgian team Club Brugge.
During this time, Riza was asked if he wanted to play for the Macedonia national team because of his family roots. However, he said that playing for Denmark was his main goal. He also shared his dream of playing in the Dutch Eredivisie or German Bundesliga leagues.
Brøndby Player of the Year
In October 2015, Riza signed a new contract with Brøndby. This contract included a special clause that allowed other clubs to buy him for €2 million. At the end of 2015, Riza won the "Brøndby IF Player of the Year" award. This was a big achievement, as he won it over famous players like Daniel Agger. He later said he expected the 2015–16 season to be his last at Brøndby. His ultimate dream was to play for Real Madrid.
Moving to Real Betis
In May 2016, Riza Durmisi signed a five-year contract with La Liga club Real Betis in Spain. Betis paid Brøndby €2 million to get him. His new contract with Betis included a €20 million buyout clause. He played his first game for Betis on August 20, in a match against Barcelona.
Scoring for Betis
On April 30, 2018, Riza scored a goal for Betis. This goal helped his team qualify for the Europa League in the 2018-19 season. They won the La Liga game against Malaga 2-1.
Time at Lazio and Loan Spells
In June 2018, Riza signed a five-year contract with Lazio in Italy. He made his debut for Lazio in August, in a game against Juventus. He faced some challenges in his first season, partly due to injuries, and found himself on the bench more often.
Loan to Nice
In December 2019, Riza was loaned to the French club Nice until the end of the season. He played his first game for Nice in January 2020. However, he only made five league appearances before returning to Lazio.
Loan to Salernitana
In January 2021, Riza was loaned again, this time to Serie B club Salernitana in Italy. He played only five games for them, all as a substitute. After this loan, he returned to Lazio but was not a regular part of the team.

In January 2022, Riza joined the Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam on loan. In September 2022, he moved to Leganés in Spain on another loan. Then, in January 2023, he was loaned to Tenerife, also in Spain.
Playing for ŁKS Łódź
After being a free agent for six months, Riza signed a contract with Ekstraklasa club ŁKS Łódź in Poland on January 8, 2024. He played his first game for them in February. He made 11 appearances before his contract ended.
Joining Nea Salamina
On January 2, 2024, Riza Durmisi signed a six-month deal with Cypriot First Division club Nea Salamina.
International Career
Riza Durmisi made his first appearance for the senior Denmark team on June 8, 2015. This was in a friendly game against Montenegro. He came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute. Riza played in the last seven matches under the coach Morten Olsen.
He once mentioned that he would have liked to play for Albania, given his Albanian heritage. He also shared that the Football Federation of Macedonia had invited him to play for them, but he declined.
In March 2016, a new coach, Åge Hareide, took over the Danish national team. He called up Riza for his first two matches. Riza started and played the full 90 minutes in both games. In May 2018, Riza was included in Denmark’s first list of players for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. However, he was not part of the final team of 23 players.
