Robert Allenby, born on July 12, 1971, is a famous Australian professional golfer. He has played in many big golf tournaments around the world. He is known for his strong career and for winning several championships.

Early Life and Beginnings

Robert Allenby was born in Melbourne, Australia. His father was from England, which means Robert has English family roots. He started playing golf at a young age and quickly became very good.

Becoming a Professional Golfer

Robert Allenby became a professional golfer in 1992. He found success almost right away! In his first year, he was the top player on the PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit. He achieved this again in 1994.

He has won 13 times in Australia and New Zealand. One of his wins was the Victorian Open, which he won even before he became a professional.

Playing in Europe

Robert also played a lot on the European Tour until 1998. He won four tournaments there, with three of those wins happening in 1996. That year, he finished third on the European Tour's money list, which was a great achievement. He was also ranked among the top 20 golfers in the world.

Success in the U.S.

Later, Allenby started playing mostly in the U.S. on the PGA Tour. In 2000, he had a fantastic year, winning both the Shell Houston Open and the Advil Western Open. He won two more tournaments the next year, in 2001. In both 2000 and 2001, he finished 16th on the PGA Tour's money list.

In 2005, Robert Allenby made history. He became the first golfer to win the "triple crown" in Australia. This means he won the Australian Masters, Australian PGA, and Australian Open all in the same year!

Team Play and Recent Career

Robert Allenby has been a key player for the International Team in the Presidents Cup. He played in this important team event in 1994, 1996, 2000, 2003, 2009, and 2011.
