Playing for Football Clubs
Roberto Anzolin started his professional football journey with Marzotto Valdagno from 1956 to 1959. After that, he moved to Palermo for two seasons.
Joining Juventus Football Club
Before his last match of the 1960–61 Serie B season, Anzolin found out he was moving to Juventus. Juventus was a very big club that had just won the Serie A championship. He played for Juventus for a long time, from 1961 to 1970. During these years, he played 305 games for the club, with 230 of those being in the league.

While playing for Juventus, Anzolin helped his team win some important trophies:
- The Serie A championship in the 1966–67 season.
- The Coppa Italia in the 1964–65 season.
- A smaller international trophy called the Coppa delle Alpi in 1963.
He also helped Juventus reach the semi-finals of the 1967–68 European Cup, which is a very important competition for European clubs.
Later Career and Retirement
After his successful time with Juventus, Anzolin played for Atalanta for one season in Serie B. He helped Atalanta get promoted to a higher league. He then moved to Lanerossi Vicenza as a backup goalkeeper.
He finished his career playing in lower leagues, called Serie C, for teams like Monza, Riccione, and JuniorCasale. With Monza, he won two "semi-professional" Coppa Italia trophies. He officially retired at the age of 40. However, when he was 46, he was asked to play for Valdagno in a smaller league because their goalkeeper was sick. He played 26 matches and only let in 4 goals, which was amazing for his age!
Playing for Italy
Anzolin was also part of the Italian squad for the 1966 FIFA World Cup. He was a substitute goalkeeper, meaning he was ready to play if the main goalkeepers, Albertosi and Pizzaballa, couldn't.
He played only one game for Italy. This was a friendly match before the World Cup against Mexico on June 29, 1966. Italy won that game 5–0. After this, he didn't play for the national team again because another famous goalkeeper, Dino Zoff, became the main choice.
How He Played Football

When Roberto Anzolin was at his best, he was considered one of Italy's top goalkeepers. He was known for being very consistent and great at stopping shots. He was quick, agile, and had a good sense of where to be on the field. He was also very fast at coming out of his goal to collect low balls.
Because he wasn't very tall or big for a goalkeeper – he was about 1.76 m (5 ft 9+1⁄2 in) – and because of his quick movements, people gave him the nickname "the mosquito" (la zanzara in Italian).
Personal Life
During his successful time playing for Juventus, Roberto Anzolin met and married his wife, Gabriella. They had two children together.
