Robin's Early Life and School
Robin Arzon was born in Philadelphia. Her mother came from Cuba and her father is from Puerto Rico. Her mom is a doctor who learned English by watching TV shows. Her dad is a lawyer and used to teach law.
When Robin was a kid, her family focused on school and family time. Sports were not a big part of her life back then.
Robin went to New York University and graduated with high honors. After that, she studied law at Villanova University School of Law.
Robin's Career Journey
Starting as a Lawyer
Robin finished law school in 2007. For seven years, she worked as a corporate litigator. This means she helped companies solve legal problems. Her father, who was also a lawyer, encouraged her to follow this path.
Discovering a Love for Fitness
In 2002, when Robin was in college, something scary happened. She was in a restaurant in New York City when a person held her and others against their will. This difficult experience made Robin want to start running.
A year later, in 2003, she saw a flyer for a 10K race. A 10K is about 6.2 miles. She decided to join the race the next morning, even though she had never run before. This was her very first race and her first time doing any serious sports. After that race, she started running a few miles between her law school classes.
Since then, Robin has run over 50 races! This includes 25 marathons (which are 26.2 miles long). She has also run three 50-mile races and even one 100-mile race. In 2010, she ran her first New York Marathon. She once ran five marathons in five days to support a charity for multiple sclerosis (MS). She finished her first 100-mile race in Florida in less than 30 hours in 2016.
Moving to a Fitness Career
In 2012, Robin left her law job to work in health and fitness. She started as a sports reporter, writing for magazines. She even reported from the London Olympics in 2012.
Robin wanted to be more involved in sports. She also wanted to show people that there are many ways to be an athlete. In 2014, she joined Peloton in New York City as an instructor.
In 2013, Robin also helped start a fitness group called Undo Ordinary. She also helped create Undo magazine.
In 2016, she became the Vice President of Fitness and Programming at Peloton. This is a very important role where she helps lead all the fitness content.
In 2015, Robin was one of 20 people chosen by National Geographic Channel for a special journey. They trekked across the Serengeti in Africa. This journey was part of a TV series called "MYGRATIONS." The group followed the path of the annual wildebeest migration. They had no maps or weapons, only food and water.
Robin is also a global ambassador for Adidas, a big sports brand. She was in one of their commercials in 2016. She is also a certified running coach.
Robin's Personal Life
In 2014, Robin found out she has Type 1 Diabetes. This is a condition where the body cannot make enough insulin. She is now part of the leadership team for Beyond Type One. This is a group that helps people learn about Type 1 Diabetes.
In 2019, Robin married Drew Butler in Mexico. They met in New York City in 2016. Their wedding was a special four-day event inspired by their love for the Burning Man festival.
