Rock Valley is a city located in Sioux County, Iowa, in the northwestern part of Iowa, United States. It is situated along the Rock River. In 2020, the city had a population of 4,059 people.

City Location and Size
Rock Valley is found at coordinates 43.201624 degrees north and -96.296379 degrees west.
The city covers a total area of about 3.27 square miles (8.47 square kilometers). Most of this area, 3.22 square miles (8.34 square kilometers), is land. A small part, 0.05 square miles (0.13 square kilometers), is water.

Rock Valley's History
The town of Rock Valley was officially planned in 1879. It was laid out by Colonel Ira Warren, who was a veteran of the Civil War. He worked with the Chicago Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway on land that he owned.
Local Economy and Environment
In February 2022, there was an event near Rock Valley involving a methane digester at Winding Meadows Dairy. This led to a spill of liquid manure, which flowed across frozen fields and into Lizard Creek (Iowa). Lizard Creek is a small stream that flows into the Rock River.
About 376,414 gallons of liquid manure entered the waterways. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources worked to address the environmental impact of this spill.
