Rodrigo Taddei's Football Journey

Starting in Brazil

Rodrigo Taddei began his football career in Brazil with the team Palmeiras. He played there for several years before moving to Italy in September 2002.

Playing for Siena

In Italy, Taddei joined Siena. At that time, Siena was in Serie B, which is the second-highest football league in Italy. His team played well and earned a promotion to Serie A, the top Italian league. After playing another season with Siena, Taddei moved to a new club.

Time with AS Roma

On 3 June 2005, Taddei signed a five-year contract with AS Roma. He made his first appearance for Roma on 28 August 2005 in a 3–0 win against Reggina.

European Competitions

Taddei also got to play in European football tournaments. He helped Roma reach the last 16 of the 2005–06 UEFA Cup. In his first season, he scored 9 goals in 53 games across all competitions.

On 18 October 2006, during a UEFA Champions League match against Olympiacos, Taddei performed a special move he called "The Aurelio." He also scored an amazing acrobatic goal against Cagliari on 23 December 2006.

Big Goals and Trophies

On 4 April 2007, Taddei scored the first goal in Roma's 2–1 win over Manchester United in the Champions League quarter-finals. Sadly, he missed the second game due to injury.

Taddei won his first trophy with Roma in the 2006–07 Coppa Italia. Roma won this trophy again the next season, beating Internazionale both times.

On 5 March 2008, he scored a goal in a 2–1 away win against Real Madrid in the Champions League. This helped Roma move on to the next round. On 21 February 2009, he scored against his old club, Siena, in a 1–0 win.

Later Years at Roma

In 2010, Taddei signed a new four-year contract with Roma. He continued to score important goals, like one against Juventus in the 2010–11 Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

In the 2012–13 season, he sometimes played as a full-back. Later, under a new coach, he moved back to midfield. He scored two goals in the 2013–14 season, his first goals since December 2011. His final goal for Roma was in a 3–1 win against Atalanta.

After nine years with Roma, playing almost 300 games and scoring 31 goals, Taddei left the club.

Playing for Perugia

On 21 July 2014, Taddei signed with AC Perugia Calcio in Serie B. He scored his first goal for Perugia in a cup match against FeralpiSalò. He also scored his first league goal for Perugia in a 2–2 draw with Vicenza.

International Football

Rodrigo Taddei has never played for the Brazilian national team. However, because he has Italian citizenship, he could have played for Italy. His great-grandparents were from Italy, which made him eligible. In 2009, he said he would have been happy to play for Italy if asked.

Personal Life

In late 2003, Rodrigo Taddei was in a serious car accident. He was injured, and sadly, his younger brother Leonardo passed away in the accident. His teammate Pinga was also hurt. After recovering from his injuries, Taddei bravely returned to play football for Siena.
