Roe is a small town in Monroe County, Arkansas, in the United States. It is located where U.S. Route 79 and Arkansas Highway 33 meet. In 2020, 68 people lived there. This was fewer than the 114 people who lived there in 2010.
History of Roe
Roe started around 1880 as a place where trains could stop. It was a railroad depot on the Cotton Belt railway line. At first, Roe was in Prairie County. But in 1883, the county lines changed, and Roe became part of Monroe County.
The town grew more when U.S. Route 79 was built through it in 1935. This made it easier for people and goods to travel. Roe officially became a town in 1968.
Geography of Roe
Roe is located in the western part of Monroe County. If you travel on U.S. Route 79, Roe is about 14 miles (23 km) northeast of Stuttgart. It is also about 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Clarendon, which is the main town of Monroe County.
The United States Census Bureau says that Roe covers about 0.18 square miles (0.46 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area in the town. Roe is in a small part of Monroe County that is west of the White River. It is also on the northern edge of the Grand Prairie area, which is part of the Arkansas Delta.
