History of Roebuck
This community was named after Benjamin Roebuck. He was an officer during the American Revolutionary War. This was a big war where America fought for its freedom.
Roebuck is home to a special place called Walnut Grove Plantation. This is an old farmhouse from the 1700s. It has been kept safe so people can visit it today. It's like a museum where you can see how people lived long ago.
A brave woman named Kate Moore lived at Walnut Grove. She was a scout for General Daniel Morgan. She helped him during an important fight called the Battle of Cowpens. This battle was a key moment in the Revolutionary War.
