Roger Philip Mason Jr. (born September 10, 1980) is an American who used to play professional basketball. He was also a leader for basketball players and later helped run a basketball league called Big3.

Roger Mason Jr.'s Early Life and High School Basketball
Roger Mason Jr. grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He went to Calvary Lutheran School for his early education.
High School Success
Roger started high school at Sidwell Friends School. As a freshman, he was named the MVP for his great skills. Later, he moved to Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. He played there for his sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Roger helped Good Counsel have their best basketball season ever. They won 29 games and were ranked 19th nationally by USA Today. During his time at Good Counsel, he scored a total of 1,426 points. He was recognized as one of the best players in the Washington, D.C. area. He won awards like the 1999 All-Metropolitan first team from The Washington Post. He was also named 1999 Powerade "Mr. Basketball."
College Basketball Career
Roger Mason Jr. played college basketball at the University of Virginia (UVA). He was a standout player for the Virginia Cavaliers.
College Achievements
In 2001, Roger was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) third team. This showed he was one of the best players in his college league. He also set a record at UVA for free throw percentage. He made 86.89 percent of his free throws. This record was later broken, but he is still one of the top players in ACC history for free throw accuracy.

Roger Mason Jr. had a long career playing professional basketball. He played for several teams in the NBA and also played internationally.
NBA Career Highlights
Roger was chosen by the Chicago Bulls in the 2002 NBA draft. He was the 31st player picked overall. He signed his first NBA contract with the Bulls in August 2002.
In 2003, he was traded to the Toronto Raptors. He played there for about a year before moving on.
In 2006, Roger joined the Washington Wizards. He played a bigger role for the team in the 2007-2008 season. This happened when other key players were injured. He played very well and had some of his best career statistics during this time.
In 2008, Roger signed with the San Antonio Spurs. On Christmas Day 2008, he made an amazing three-point shot. It was a buzzer-beater that won the game against the Phoenix Suns. That season, he played all 82 games. He also achieved his highest points, rebounds, and assists per game.
After the Spurs, Roger played for the New York Knicks in 2010. He returned to the Washington Wizards in 2011 for another season. In 2012, he signed with the New Orleans Hornets. His last NBA team was the Miami Heat in 2013. He was briefly traded to the Sacramento Kings in 2014 but was waived the same day.
Playing Basketball Internationally
Before returning to the NBA, Roger also played basketball outside the United States. In 2005, he played for Olympiacos in Greece. Later that year, he joined Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel. He became a very important player for Hapoel Jerusalem. He helped them reach the semi-finals of the Uleb Cup and the finals of the Israeli League.
