Rolan Webster Holden (born August 7, 1939 – died January 22, 1997) was an American singer. He was known for his pop and rhythm and blues (R&B) music. Ron was from Seattle, Washington, in the United States. He became famous for his hit song "Love You So."

Ron appeared on popular TV shows like The Lloyd Thaxton Show and American Bandstand. He shared the stage with stars such as Connie Francis and Conway Twitty. He also performed at the famous Apollo Theater with artists like Jackie Wilson. Ron even joined USO tours, entertaining troops alongside Elvis Presley and Pat Boone.

Between 1958 and 1965, Ron toured with many other music legends. These included James Brown, Etta James, the Coasters, and Bill Haley. He traveled across the country, performing his songs for many fans.

In 1969, Ron Holden started his own band called Ron Holden & Good News. This group played rock and R&B music. They performed in clubs and at festivals around the Seattle and Tacoma areas. The band had six members, including trumpets, saxophone, drums, and guitars. They were inspired by bands like Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears.

How Ron Holden Became Famous

Ron Holden was discovered by Larry Nelson. Larry had just left his job as a police officer to start a record label. In 1959, Ron recorded a song called "Love You So." This song quickly became a big hit across the U.S.

"Love You So" reached number 11 on the R&B chart. It also climbed to number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in April 1960. A record company called Donna Records bought the rights to Ron's music. They released a full album also titled Love You So. This album was re-released in 1994 by Del-Fi Records. Ron returned to the music charts in 1974 with his song "Can You Talk?"

Ron Holden's Later Years

Ron Holden continued to be involved in music throughout his life. He passed away from a heart attack in Rosarito Beach, Mexico, in 1997. His music, especially "Love You So," is still remembered today.
