Ronald Edmund Dupree Jr. (born January 26, 1981) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played for six seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Ronald also spent many seasons in the NBA Development League (now called the G League). He played in Europe and Argentina too. After he stopped playing, Dupree became a college basketball assistant coach. Today, he works as a scout for the Milwaukee Bucks basketball team.

College Basketball Journey

Ronald Dupree played college basketball at Louisiana State University (LSU). He played under Coach John Brady. In his first year, he helped the Tigers reach the "Sweet Sixteen" in the 2000 NCAA tournament. He averaged about 5 points and 3 rebounds per game.

Top Player in the SEC

Dupree was named to the All-SEC Second Team three times. This was during his sophomore, junior, and senior years. In his second year, he was the top scorer in the SEC conference. He scored 17.3 points per game. He was also second in rebounding with 8.8 rebounds per game.

For his last three years, he was always second in the SEC for rebounds. He averaged 8.8, 8.5, and 8.3 rebounds. He also always ranked high in scoring during those years. Ronald finished his time at LSU as one of the school's top scorers and rebounders ever.

Professional Basketball Career

Ronald Dupree was not chosen in the 2003 NBA draft. But he still got a chance to play in the NBA. He signed with the Chicago Bulls during the 2003–04 season. After his first year, he joined the Detroit Pistons. He didn't play much for the Pistons at first.

Moving Between NBA Teams

Before the 2005–06 season, Dupree was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He later rejoined the Detroit Pistons in 2006. In 2007, the Pistons let him go to make room for new players. On April 3, 2008, he signed a short contract with the Seattle SuperSonics. He was the last player to sign with the Sonics before they moved and became the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Playing in the D-League and Overseas

Dupree started the 2008–2009 season with the Tulsa 66ers in the NBA Developmental League. This league helps players get ready for the NBA. He was traded to the Utah Flash during that season. He helped the Flash reach the D-League finals.

In 2009, he tried out for the Utah Jazz but didn't make the team. He later signed with the Toronto Raptors in 2010. He was released and then re-signed by the Raptors, but was waived again in early 2011.

Ronald also played basketball in other countries. In 2012, he played for the Argentine team Regatas Corrientes. Then he played for an Italian team, Andrea Costa Imola Basket. He tried out for the Memphis Grizzlies in 2012 but didn't make their final roster.

Final Years as a Player

In 2013, Dupree joined the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the D-League. He was later traded to the Reno Bighorns. On August 8, 2013, he signed a two-year deal with Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel. He announced his retirement from playing basketball on September 10, 2014. After retiring, he became a student assistant coach at LSU.

Life After Playing Basketball

After retiring as a player, Ronald Dupree returned to LSU in 2014. He worked as a student assistant coach for the men's basketball team. For the 2015–16 season, he became the director of student development at LSU.

In 2016, Dupree was hired as an assistant coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team. He stayed in that role for the 2016–17 season. In 2017, he left coaching to become a scout for the Milwaukee Bucks. As a scout, he helps find new talent for the team.
