Ronan is a city located in Lake County, Montana, in the United States. It is part of the Flathead Indian Reservation. In 2020, about 1,955 people lived there. The Salish name for Ronan is ocqʔetkʷ.

History of Ronan
The area where Ronan is located is part of the Flathead Indian Reservation. This reservation was created on July 16, 1855. It was formed by the Hellgate Treaty. This agreement was made between the United States and several Native American tribes. These tribes included the Bitterroot Salish, Upper Pend d'Oreille, and Lower Kutenai people. Today, they are known as the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
The city was first called Spring Creek. In 1893, its name was changed to Ronan. This was done to honor Major Peter Ronan. He was the superintendent of the Flathead Indian Reservation at that time.

Where is Ronan Located?
Ronan is about 12 miles (19 km) south of Flathead Lake. This lake is in the northwestern part of Montana. The beautiful Mission Mountains are located to the east of the city. Also, the Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge is about 5 miles (8 km) south.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Ronan covers an area of 1.19 square miles (3.08 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
