Ronnie Foster, born on May 12, 1950, is an American musician. He is famous for playing the organ in funk and soul jazz music. He also works as a record producer. Many of his albums from the 1970s, released by Blue Note Records, became very popular with fans of a music style called acid jazz.

Ronnie Foster's Early Life
Ronnie Foster was born in Buffalo, New York. He went to Public School 8, Woodlawn Jr. High, McKinley Vocational High School, and Lafayette High School. Even though he became a great musician, he only had one month of formal music lessons. These lessons were for the accordion, which shows how naturally talented he is!
Ronnie Foster's Music Career
Ronnie Foster began his music journey playing with other musicians in his hometown. Later, he moved to New York City with his own band. He also started a company that handles music publishing.
Ronnie has played with many different musicians as a sideman. A sideman is a musician who plays with a band or artist but is not a permanent member. He often worked with the famous guitarist George Benson. Ronnie played on Benson's well-known album Breezin'. He has also played the organ for other great artists like Grant Green, Grover Washington Jr., Stanley Turrentine, Roberta Flack, Earl Klugh, Harvey Mason, Jimmy Smith, and Stevie Wonder.
Besides playing music, Ronnie Foster is also a record producer. This means he helps artists record their songs and albums. One of Ronnie Foster's songs, "Mystic Brew", became very famous when it was used by other artists. The hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest used a part of "Mystic Brew" in their song "Electric Relaxation". Later, J. Cole also used it in his song "Forbidden Fruit". In 2016, J. Cole even said that for his song "Neighbors", he reversed, changed the pitch, and slowed down "Mystic Brew".
