History of Roscoe
Roscoe wasn't always called Roscoe. When it was first settled, its name was Morris. The first post office opened on July 6, 1901. Timothy F. George was the very first postmaster.
The name officially changed from Morris to Roscoe on February 14, 1905. This change happened to prevent confusion with mail. There was another place in Montana called Norris, Montana, and letters were sometimes getting mixed up. Changing the name to Roscoe helped make sure mail went to the right place.
