Rose Stone (born Rosemary Stewart, March 21, 1945) is an American singer and keyboard player. She is famous for being one of the main singers in Sly and the Family Stone. This popular funk band was started by her brothers, Sly Stone and Freddie Stone.

Rose Stone's Music Career
Starting with Sly and the Family Stone
Rose Stone, along with her brothers Sly and Freddie, formed the band Sly and the Family Stone in 1966. When she performed with the band, she often wore a shiny, platinum-colored wig. People really noticed her powerful singing voice.
After the Band
After Sly and the Family Stone broke up in 1975, Rose Stone was sometimes called "Sister Rose." She later released her own album on Motown Records. For this album, she used the name Rose Banks.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Rose worked as a backing singer. This means she sang harmony or extra parts for other artists. She sang on recordings for famous musicians like Michael Jackson, Phish, and Ringo Starr.
Rose also returned to her gospel music roots. Gospel music is a type of Christian music. In 1983, she sang on Sandra Crouch's album We Sing Praises, which won a Grammy Award. She has been involved with her brother Freddie's church for many years.
Recent Years and Collaborations
In 1994, Rose sang backing vocals on songs for Victoria Williams' album Loose. She also sang on two songs for the rock band Phish's album Hoist that same year.
She also sang a duet with Robbie Williams on his album Escapology. You can hear her as the main singer in a church choir in the movie The Ladykillers (2004). Her daughter, Lisa Stone, also sings. Lisa was part of a band that played tribute to Sly & the Family Stone.
In 2006, Rose Stone got back together with the original members of Family Stone. From 2011 to 2012, Rose and her daughter Lisa toured with the famous singer Elton John. They were part of his group of backing singers.
Rose Stone's Legacy
Rose Stone was honored for her amazing music career. In 1993, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is a special place that celebrates the most important and influential rock and roll artists. She was inducted as a member of Sly and the Family Stone.
