Rosemary Anne Leach (born 18 December 1935 – died 21 October 2017) was a talented British actress. She performed in plays, on television, and in movies.
Rosemary won a special award called the Olivier Award in 1982. This was for her amazing acting in a play called 84, Charing Cross Road. She was also nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role twice. These nominations were for her roles in the films That'll Be the Day (1973) and A Room with a View (1985).
She appeared in many TV shows. Some popular ones include The Jewel in the Crown (1984) and My Family (2003–2007).

Early Life and Training
Rosemary Leach was born in Much Wenlock, a town in Shropshire, England. Her parents were both teachers.
She went to a grammar school. After that, she studied acting at the RADA. This is a very famous acting school.
Rosemary started her career in local theatres. She also performed at the famous Old Vic theatre. From 1965 to 1969, she became well-known on TV. She played Susan Wheldon in the drama The Power Game.

Rosemary Leach had a long and busy acting career. She took on many different roles.
In 1970, she played Marcelle in a BBC series. It was called The Roads to Freedom. This show was based on famous novels by Jean-Paul Sartre.
A year later, in 1971, she played the mother in Cider with Rosie. This was a BBC show based on a popular book.
In 1973, she acted in The Adventures of Don Quixote. She played Aldonza/Dulcinea alongside famous actors Rex Harrison and Frank Finlay. Later, in 1978, she played Queen Victoria in the TV show Disraeli.
Rosemary also performed in classic plays. In 1981, she was Emilia in the BBC's Othello. This play also starred Bob Hoskins.
She continued to appear in many TV mini-series. These included The Jewel in the Crown in 1984. In 1987, she had a main role as Joan Plumleigh-Bruce in The Charmer.
Her movie roles were also important. She played David Essex's mother in That'll Be the Day (1973). She also had a voice role in the animated film The Plague Dogs (1982).
In 1987, she was nominated for a BAFTA award. This was for her supporting role in the movie A Room with a View (1985).
In 1992, Rosemary starred in An Ungentlemanly Act. This BBC TV film was about the start of the Falkland Islands invasion. She played Lady Mavis Hunt, the governor's wife.
She also appeared in The Buccaneers in 1995. This was a popular BBC mini-series. She played Selina Marable, Marchioness of Brightlingsea.
Rosemary was also a radio actress. She played Anna in the BBC Radio 4 show No Commitments. She was also Susan Harper's mother, Grace, in the TV sitcom My Family. She made a guest appearance in Waterloo Road in 2008.
She played Queen Elizabeth II three times. These roles were in the TV movie Prince William (2002), Tea with Betty (2006), and Margaret (2009).
Death
Rosemary Leach passed away on 21 October 2017. She was 81 years old. She died in London, England, after a short illness.
