History of Rosston

The town of Rosston has an interesting, though not fully clear, story about how it got its name. It all started with two best friends, Bella Norvig and Sarah Rosston. They traveled together on the Santa Fe Trail. During their journey, they both fell in love with the same man. His name has been lost over time.

When they reached the spot where Rosston is now, the two friends had a big argument. Sarah won the argument. After Bella left, Sarah declared that the spot would be named Rosston. She and the man then lived there.

There is also an important historical site nearby called the Old Settler's Irrigation Ditch. This ditch is listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Beaver County, Oklahoma.
