Roy Allen Foster, born on May 24, 1960, is a former American football player. He played as an offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL). Before turning professional, he played college football for the USC Trojans.

Early Life and High School Football

Roy Foster attended Taft High School in Woodland Hills, California. He also went to Shawnee Mission West High School in Overland Park, Kansas.

College Football Career at USC

Foster played college football for the University of Southern California (USC). He was recognized as an All-American in both 1980 and 1981. Being an All-American means he was considered one of the best players in the country.

He was also the first player to win the Morris Trophy. This award goes to the top offensive or defensive lineman in the Pacific-8 conference. Roy Foster is one of only three offensive linemen from the Pac-12 conference to win this award twice.

Professional NFL Journey

The Miami Dolphins picked Roy Foster in the first round of the 1982 NFL draft. This was a big achievement, showing he was one of the top players chosen that year.

Playing in the Pro Bowl

Roy Foster was selected for the Pro Bowl twice, in 1985 and 1986. The Pro Bowl is an all-star game where the best players from the NFL compete. He also played in two Super Bowls, which are the championship games of the NFL season.

Blocking for Legendary Quarterbacks

Foster played for the Miami Dolphins until 1990. He then joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1991 and retired in 1993. He has a unique record: he is the only offensive lineman to have blocked for three famous quarterbacks: Joe Montana, Steve Young, and Dan Marino. Blocking means protecting the quarterback from opposing players. He even caught a touchdown pass from Dan Marino during his career!
