Rucio is a small area or barrio located in the municipality of Peñuelas, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 1,064 people lived here.
A Look at Rucio's Past
Puerto Rico became part of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. After this, Puerto Rico became an unincorporated territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States government did a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, found that 2,233 people lived in the Rucio barrio at that time.
