About the Rufous-vented Tit
This bird is known for its pretty songs. It is a small, active bird that often moves around in groups. Tits and chickadees are known for being smart and adaptable.
Where Does It Live?

The Rufous-vented Tit lives in the western Himalayas. This means you can find it in several countries. These include Bhutan, China, Pakistan, India, Myanmar, and Nepal.
Its Home in the Wild
This bird prefers to live in certain types of forests. It likes boreal forests, which are northern forests with lots of evergreen trees. It also lives in temperate forests, which have a mix of trees.
For example, in Bhutan, one type of Rufous-vented Tit (P. r. beavani) is quite common. It lives in moist forests with Bhutan fir trees. These forests are found high up in the mountains, usually between 3,000 and 4,000 meters (about 9,800 to 13,000 feet) above sea level.
Is It Endangered?
The Rufous-vented Tit is found over a very large area. It is not a rare bird. Because of this, the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) does not consider it a threatened species. This means it is not in danger of disappearing.
Different Types of Rufous-vented Tits
Scientists group living things into different types. The Rufous-vented Tit has four main types, called subspecies. They used to be part of a larger group called Parus.
Here are the four subspecies:
- Periparus rubidiventris rubidiventris: This type lives along the southern edge of the Himalayas. You can find it from northwest to northeast India and northern Nepal.
- Periparus rubidiventris beavani (Jerdon, 1863): This one is sometimes called Beavan's Rufous-vented Tit. It lives on the southern edge of the Himalayas in northeast India and Bhutan.
- Periparus rubidiventris whistleri: This type is found on the southeast edge of the Himalayas. It lives in southwest China, nearby northern Myanmar, and the very northeast part of India. Sometimes, scientists include this type with beavani.
- Periparus rubidiventris saramatii: This type is found in a very small area in northwest Myanmar.
